Corrected or Updated Title
What you will need:
1. Original Kentucky Title
2. Application for Title/Registration (TC96-182).
Complete the following:
- Type of application desired
- Vehicle Identification Section
- Odometer Disclosure
- Owner/Buyer Section, including current owner's name, SSN and address
- Check the appropriate boxes for the lien information
- Signature and Notary
If your name has changed and you would like to update your title, also submit a copy of your marriage license, divorce decree or court order. A copy of your updated photo ID and an Application for Change of Name (FCC-84-256) may be substituted.
If the application for an updated title is for the purpose of applying for an additional loan, the owner will be given the yellow copy of the Registration Receipt. This "goldenrod" copy should be taken to the lender for processing.
Fees:
$6.00 - Application notarized out of our office
$9.00 - Application notarized by the County Clerk's office

A registration will be mailed from our office. The new title will be mailed to the address listed on the application in about four weeks.
NOTE: Adding or removing an owner from the title/registration is not an update.
