Assignments

There is no longer a requirement that instructs a secured party to file an assignment on titled property, however the secured party may file an assignment if they wish. The legal record holder is the only entity that can submit an assignment or termination. The title will only be updated if a duplicate title is requested. The fee for an assignment is $13.00 per title lien. Click here for lien fee information.  Document requirements are as follows:

  • The name of the secured party of record
  • The name of the debtor
  • The original file number
  • The original date of filing
  • The name and address of the assignee
  • A description of the titled property assigned including the ID Number
